Looking east on 2nd Avenue SE with the Cedar Rapids Post Office and Federal Building on the right and the Cedar Rapids Business College shown in the background. The post office and federal building was constructed in 1895 at a cost of $100,000 and renovated and enlarged in 1906 at a cost of $215,000 by James Knox Taylor, supervising architect of the United States Treasury. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The Cedar Rapids Business College was constructed in 1911 and located on the corner of Second Avenue and Fifth Street. 1915 postmark. Number 74.

The buildings were constructed entirely of wood, and the north side of Main Street burned down completely at the turn of the century. The buildings were soon replaced with red brick. 1915 postmark.
