Furnished predominately with original pieces, this is the most historic room in the house. Grenville M. Dodge was the chief engineer of the Union Pacific Railroad, 1866-1869, and was responsible for completing the first transcontinental railroad in 1869. He remained in his house until his death in 1916. The Dodge House was built in 1869 at a cost of $35,000, and the architect was W.W. Boyington of Chicago. It is located at 605 South Third Street, Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie County, Iowa. 1982 postmark. Number 10x16023-D.
