Looking southeast at a two story limestone building with the Civil War monument on the right. Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, formerly known as Grace Cathedral, is the historic cathedral in the Diocese of Iowa. It was built in 1873 at a cost of $80,000 and is one of the oldest cathedrals in the Episcopal Church in the United States. The Soldiers' Monument was built in 1881 in honor of Scott County's Civil War dead. The church is located at 121 West Twelfth Street, Davenport, Scott County, Iowa, and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and the monument is listed on the Davenport Register of Historic Properties. Looking northeast at a Gothic-style building designed by James J. Egan, Chicago architect and completed in 1891, the church measures 180 feet (55 m) in length and is 65 feet (20 m) wide. The roof rises 75 feet (23 m) above the ground and the spire on top of the tower is 160 feet (49 m) tall. When it was completed the cathedral was the tallest structure in the Quad Cities The church is located at 422 East Tenth Street, Davenport, Scott County, Iowa, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. 1951 postmark.
