Portrait of Mumpford Holland who was born a slave in Kentucky and came to Grinnell in 1871 to work as a hotel porter. He died on July 28, 1916. Mumpford gave his house in Grinnell at 511 Second Avenue to Eva Pearl Renfrow in payment for her taking care of him in his old age.
