Looking west at the Elkader Big Dam built in 1864 and situated on the Turkey River. Looking west at the Clayton County Courthouse located at 111 South High Street, Elkader, Clayton County, Iowa. The Italianate style courthouse was constructed in 1868 and the courthouse clocktower was added in 1896. Looking south on West Bridge Street at the Bayless Hotel built in 1897 to replace the Clark House which had burned down in 1896. Looking north from a wooden boardwalk with the Elkader Keystone Bridge and the Elkader State Bank in the background. Its large hotels call thousands here annually, for both pleasure and health. 1906 postmark.

A multiview of Fairfield, Iowa, from top to bottom, left to right. Looking down a quiet residential street on West Broadway. Looking northeast at the Jefferson County Court House which was designed by H.C. Koch and constructed of brick and stone in 1891-93 at the cost of close to $74,000. The building is built in the Victorian Romanesque style. Looking North on Main Street. Fairfield Hall was designed by architect Henry K. Holsman, and completed in 1903 and contains elements of the Beaux Arts style. Logan School was built in 1890. The Fairfield Public Library is a Carnegie Library built in 1893 at a cost of $40,000 and designed in the Richardsonian Romanesque style by architect Appleton Prentiss Clark, Jr., Washington, DC. Contractor was C. Stafford, Kansas City, Kansas.
