View of the Rock Island railroad freight depot which was located on the northeast corner of the intersection of West Street and the railroad tracks in Grinnell, Iowa. The tower on top of the building was where the signal man manually controlled all electronic crossing systems during the daylight hours. This depot was said to be the highest point on the Rock Island tracks between Council Bluffs and Omaha. A Rock Island Motor Transit truck is visible in the background.
