After several attempts to move the county seat from Afton to Creston, the courthouse was located in Creston and completed in 1890 at a cost of $22,000. The post office has subsequently been relocated to a more modern building, and this building has been converted into commercial space located at 281 North Maple Street, Creston, Union County, Iowa.
