Looking west at a single-story brick building. The Commons at Parsons College was completed in 1965. Parsons College was named for Lewis B. Parsons Sr., a New York merchant who died in 1855 and left much of his estate as an endowment for an institution of higher learning in Iowa. The College was closed in 1973 and the campus was later purchased in 1974 by Maharishi International University.
