New East High School, Des Moines, Iowa

Description

Looking northeast at a four-story stone building built in 1911 and renovated in 2005. When the building first opened, the school board was unable to afford new furniture, because of the enormous cost of its construction. During the first spring of the building's existence, a number of students used whatever vehicles they could provide to haul the furniture from the old building to the new one. Located at 815 East 13th Street, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa.
