Looking northwest at the Cedar River which is a tributary of the Iowa River and flows to the Mississippi River. The Cedar River takes its name from the red cedar (Juniperus virginiana) trees growing there, and was originally called the Red Cedar River by the Meskwaki Indians. Ellis Park was named for Robert Ellis, the patriarch and honored citizen of Cedar Rapids and Linn County who took active and helpful part in the early development of the city and county. Number 1A1928.
