The first Clearfield High School was built in 1898 of pressed brick containing 11 rooms at a cost of $20,000. The building was destroyed by fire on March 24, 1940, on Easter Sunday and a new building was completed in 1941. That building was closed in 1986. 1908 postmark.

Looking east at a four-story stone building built in 1911 and renovated in 2005. When the building first opened, the school board was unable to afford new furniture, because of the enormous cost of its construction. During the first spring of the building's existence, a number of students used whatever vehicles they could provide to haul the furniture from the old building to the new one. Located at 815 East 13th Street, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa. 1915 postmark. Number 8913.

Looking east at the original Washington High School (on the right) built in 1891 on the corner of Fourth Avenue and Fifth Street SE. It was a three-story brick building with a white belfry, and it was the largest public school in Iowa at that time. The building was demolished in 1946. In the early 1900s, the square featured an electric fountain that showcased artistic water streams, lights and drinking fountains. George Greene was an attorney, judge, railroad owner, and one of the city's founders. Number 1844.
