The woman in the center of this photograph is Ann Goplerud, class of 1939. During WWII she served in the Red Cross and sang at hospitals and for troops moving out. She became incredibly popular and even earned the name "Ann of Iowa." She also served in the Red Cross during the Korean War. Ann's papers are housed in Special Collections and Archives.
Anna Lee writes to ask Lucille if she has had any news about Jimmy. She talks about how she recieved her son's personal items the other day and how hard it was for her to read his letters. She mentions it has now been almost a year since the crew's mission failed.

Earlville was first named Nottingham in 1857 in honor of the leading officials of the railroad company and then changed to Earlville shortly after in honor of George M. Earl, an early landowner.
